Limoges (France) porcelain coffee cup and saucer, circa 1900, decorated with a princely armorial of an unidentified Russian family, cobalt blue rim painted with gilt laurel leaves, gilded handle. Manufacturers' marks: Haviland France/Frank Haviland Limoges. Condition: light rubbing to gilt on rim of the cup.

cup 2 3/16 in. (5,6 cm) high; saucer 4 3/4 in. (12 cm) in diameter.

 

Questions or Comments

The upper part of the shield is with the arms of the Moscow grand principality  (Saint George slaying the dragon, on red ground); the lower part with an arrow placed within a horseshoe, on blue ground. The shield is placed on an ermine mantel surmounted with Russian princely crown.
