A vintage Russian photograph from the family archive of Ivan Badyin, a sailor from the Imperial yacht STANDARD.

Extremely rare photograph, circa 1911, of Nicholas II, Czarevich Alexei, and crew of the yacht STANDARD, photographer Karl von Ghan of Tsarskoe Selo.
Mounted on a photo board 9 1/2 x 11 3/4 in. (24 x 29,8 cm).
Nicholas II is wearing white (summer) uniform of a Navy officer, shoulder boards with cipher of Alexander III, an aiguillette, and a cross of the order of St. Vladimir. Czarevich Alexei is wearing an everyday sailor's black & blue uniform and bezkozirka (a visorless Navy cap), with the name of the yacht - ШТАНДАРТ.
Remarkably, the original owner of these photographs is seated right next to the Czar.
The back of the photo board is decorated with the Imperial warrant and the following inscription in Russian: "PHOTOGRAPHER of HIS MAJESTY'S COURT K.E. von Ghan and Co. TSARSKOE SELO."
Note the name of the yacht and the Imperial eagle on the lifebuoy ring behind the last row of sailors.
All sailors are wearing badges in the form of a cross. It is the badge of the Guard Equipage (elite Navy unit, which incorporated crews of Imperial yachts). The badge was instituted in 1910 to commemorate the bicentennial of the Guard Equipage.
It is a very sharp, high contrast print. Even wood grain of the deck is clearly visible.

This book came from the Badyin family along with the photographs.
A unique group of items from a family archive related to the Imperial yacht of Nicholas II THE STANDARD, comprising a sailor's cap, an Imperial warrant, and two photographs.
The warrant was issued in 1911 by the Cabinet of His Majesty. Watermarked paper of the Imperial Court decorated with the State coat of arms.
The warrant states that cabin steward of the Imperial yacht "Standard" Dmitry Pudovkin is being awarded a gold open face watch with the state emblem on the cover from the Cabinet of His Majesty in 1910.
A black sailor's cap with brown leather lining and black & orange (colors of the Guard) silk ribbon, printed in gold with the name of the yacht STANDARD.
Condition: some moth damage, slightly faded fabric, few small holes.
Length of the ribbon is 35 in.
Condition: missing one tip of the ribbon, small holes, printed name of the yacht in good condition, original gold paint mostly intact.

Czarevich Alexei (1904-1918), the son of Nicholas II, in navy uniform and sailor's cap seated, behind him - daughters of Nicholas II - Grand Duchesses Maria (1899-1918) and Anastasia (1901-1918).
The seaman in white uniform (seated) holding a watering can is the owner of this archive.
There is a photograph of czarevich Alexei pouring water out of identical (almost certainly the same) watering can published in Nicholas II The Imperial Family.
Attendant of czarevich Alexei - Derevenko, in white uniform standing, next to him is a Circassian of His Majesty's Own Escort.
