An Early Medieval Gold Ring from the Byzantine Empire, circa 8th – 10th century AD.
The gold bezel of the ring is shaped as a quatrefoil – an ancient symbol of good luck, health and fortune.
The original stone didn’t survive. The ring was recently set with a cabochon cut lapis lazuli.
The ring comes with a metal analysis report showing 62.95% average gold content (min. reading 62.78%, max. reading 63.14%) with additions of copper 8.303%, silver 28.59%, zinc 0.160%, nickel (-) 0.004%.
