Rare Siberian amethysts are usually associated with deep royal purple, although it’s not always the case. Here is a pair of antique Russian (fully hallmarked) earrings set with cushion cut Siberian amethysts of a brilliant light lavender purple color with splashes of pink, accented by old cushion cut diamonds.

Russian amethysts are no longer mined. They could be found only in tsarist (pre-1917) and early Soviet (1920s-1950s) jewelry. Russian amethyst earrings are especially rare and hard to find.

The amethyst measure 9.5 x 8.6 x 6.35 mm, approximately 3.02 ct, and 9.04 x 8.6 x 6.4 mm, approximately 3.02 ct.

The diamonds are 4.9 x 4.4 x 3.15 mm, approximately 0.52 ct, and 4.7 x 4.2 x 2.9 mm, approximately 0.44 ct.

Estimated total amethyst weight is 6.04 ct;  total diamond weight – 0.96 ct

The earrings are marked with 56 zolotnik Imperial gold standard with assay mark of Kazan and maker’s initials ‘ПК’.
