This is a very rare 19th century Russian 14K gold ring from the 1830s-1840s. The ring is embellished with intricately carved floral designs around a high domed cabochon cut blue sapphire. The heavy weight of the ring and its slick design suggest that the ring was commissioned for a man. It is certainly unique and one of a kind piece. The ring is very well made and comfortable to wear.
The sapphire is approximately 9.7 x 7.8 x 5.8 mm. Estimated weight is 4.75 carats.
