An Antique Engagement Ring – Gold, Diamond and Enamel
This three stone Victorian era diamond ring was made in St Petersburg in 1851, during the reign of Tsar Nicholas I.
It is a very rare early dated Russian engagement ring.
The yellow 14K gold ring is set with a round old cut diamond in a gold claw setting flanked by two antique cushion cut diamonds.
The ring is further embellished with cobalt blue enamel which was used extensively to decorate jewelry during the late 18th and throughout the 19th centuries.
The central sparkling bright white diamond is of a very good color (E-F). It is 5.7 x 5.8 x 3.9 mm and weighs approximately 0.85 ct.
The two cushion cut diamonds have a combined approximate weight of 0.45 ct, bringing the total diamond weight in this ring, to 1.30 ct.
The shoulders of the ring are decorated with two gold medieval style scrolls on a cobalt blue enamel ground.
It is a very beautiful hand made three stone antique ring, and it is in a superb condition.

The ring is marked with a rhombus shaped assay stamp with the coat of arms of St Petersburg – a scepter laid on two crossed anchors with date ‘1851’ below,maker’s initials ‘AH’, and 56 zolotniks gold standard (14K).
