Austrian, circa 1870.

This large antique locket pendant is superbly crafted in two tone 14K gold. The front cover of the locket is centered with a pearl star mounted on an engraved background and framed by a hand-carved gold scrolling foliage. The back cover is decorated with two coats of arms surmounted by a crown. The Roman numeral ‘L’  (50) is placed below the armorials.

The interior of the locket is fitted with two glazed picture frames.

Marked with Austrian fox head 1867-1872 assay mark and maker’s mark ‘G & N’.

The locket opens by pressing the button at the top.

Size without suspension rings is 46 x 35 mm (1 7/8 x 1 3/8 in.)

Diameter of the principal pearl is 6 mm.

Weight is 30.01 grams.
