made in Moscow around 1899.
The 14K gold earrings are stylized in Art Nouveau taste as a waterfall of flowers set with Russian demantoids.
The earrings are marked with both pre-1899 and 1899-1908 assay marks: 56 zolotnik gold standard, assayer’s initials ‘ИЛ’ for Ivan Lebedkin, Moscow city mark, and maker’s mark.
Total length with ear wire is 35 mm (1 3/8 in.)
Weight 1.2 gram each.
The earrings have back to front closures, which are comfortable to wear, but might it take some time to get used to putting them on. This type of closure was very popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
