An exquisite Russian icon of the Kazan Mother of God, created in Moscow during the 1890s. The sacred image is overlaid with a richly detailed gilded silver riza (oklad), beautifully chased with high-relief floral motifs and adorned with multicolored cloisonné enamels.
The Virgin’s and Christ Child’s robes are masterfully rendered in filigree silver, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship typical of late Imperial Russian religious art.
The oklad bears the Moscow pre-1899 assay mark featuring Saint George, the 84 zolotnik silver standard (875/1000), and the silversmith’s initials ‘СГ’.
