The centerpiece is a 2.18 ct oval Russian antique demantoid garnet from the Ural Mountains. Russian 2 ct demantoids are very rare, most stones being under 1 ct. It is a beautiful gem of intense green color with a brilliant bold flash across the center. The smaller stone is a 0.32 ct Russian demantoid garnet. The demantoids have some light horsetail inclusions which confirm their Ural origin.
The jewel comes with a demantoid grading report from an independent gemological laboratory.
This is the pendant’s original fitted case which is covered with velvet that matches the color of the demantoids. The gold chain is a later replacement from the Soviet era.
