Austrian, circa 1870
An impressive antique Victorian era large locket pendant is finely crafted in two tone 14K gold. The front cover of the locket is centered with a pearl star mounted on an alpine green guilloche enamel background and surrounded by a hand-engraved gold scrolling foliage. The back cover is decorated with two coats of arms surmounted by a crown. The Roman numeral ‘L’ (50) is placed below the armorials.
The interior of the locket is fitted with two glazed picture frames.
Marked with Austrian fox head 1867-1872 assay mark and maker’s mark ‘G & N’.
The locket opens by pressing the button at the top.
