Vienna, circa 1950s
Rock crystal, nephrite jade, diamonds, and 18K white gold
This exquisite brooch is finely modeled as a lily of the valley, combining naturalistic artistry with exceptional craftsmanship. The flower heads are superbly carved from frosted rock crystal and accented with diamonds, while the green leaves are naturalistically carved from nephrite jade. The ribbon-tied stems are crafted in white 18K gold.
This is among the finest examples of a lily of the valley brooch of this type.
Stamped with the elephant head assay mark for Austrian 3rd gold standard (18K), “V” for Vienna, ‘750’ gold, and maker’s initials “AJ”.
The booch comes in its vintage retailer’s case, stamped in gold “Juwel Wien.”
