An antique 18th century Russian silver snuff box in the form of a pug dog, made in Moscow around 1790, workmaster Alexei Ratjkov (a prominent silversmith, active 1777-1821).
Length 2 5/8 in. (6,7 cm).
The eyes and gold trimmed collar are set with faceted garnets.

Struck with workmaster’s initials ‘AP’, 84 zolotniks Imperial Russian standard (.875 silver), Moscow city mark and unknown assayer’s initials possible Cyrillic ‘KD’ (on rim).
Condition – light overall pocket wear.
