circa 1915
A silver and 14K gold ring is prong-set with a vivid green Russian demantoid (6.8 x 5.6 x 4.6 mm, approximately 1.50 ct). The shoulders of the ring are embellished with small single cut diamonds set in silver over gold.
The demantoid has some prominent horsetail inclusions, a unique feature of demantoids from the Ural Mountains.
Russian demantoids over 1 carat are rare. Majority of demantoids found in old jewelry are under 0.50 ct.
The ring is currently size 9.25. It can be sized several sizes.
