Vienna, Austria, circa 1960s
These vintage earrings are designed as a pair of naturalistically carved rock crystal flower heads, each centered with a brilliant cut diamond and mounted in white 14K gold.
Austrian hardstone carving for jewelry reached its peak during the 1950s and 1960s. While most carved hardstone pieces from this period take the form of brooches, carved rock crystal earrings are exceptionally rare, making this pair particularly distinctive. The earrings are preserved in pristine condition and may be converted to clips for unpierced ears if desired.
They are marked with the Austrian horse head assay mark, “A” for Vienna, the 585 gold standard, and the maker’s initials “IS.”
Estimated total diamond weight is 0.32 ct.
