This gold mounted carved cat’s eye quartz miniature egg pendant was made in St. Petersburg between 1882 and 1898.  The stone displays a bold chatoyance or cat’s eye effect.

The egg is marked with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard, St. Petersburg assay mark and maker’s initials.
