Austro-Hungarian Empire, Prague or Vienna, circa 1870.
This impressive Victorian era bracelet is crafted in silver-gold-copper alloy (approximately 6K gold). It is embellished with famous Bohemian (Prague region) red garnets.
Jewelry with red Bohemian garnets, which resemble pomegranate seeds, was very popular in the mid to late 19th century. Majority of such pieces were crafted in low karat gold and were set with small rose cut stones.
This bracelet features eight large graduating sugarloaf cabochon cut garnets what is very unusual for this type of jewelry which would normally have small stones only.
