This very fine and rare antique Russian Imperial era miniature egg pendant was made between 1908 and 1917. The carved banded agate egg is encased in delicate rose and yellow gold garlands chased with laurel leaves.

A similar egg from the collection of Lillian Thomas Pratt is now in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (see FABERGE REVEALED At The Virginia Museum Of Fine Arts, No 348). The collection features works by Faberge and his contemporaries.

Although, both this egg and the egg in the museum are not by Faberge, they are of the same period and in the same style.

Likely, this egg was made by Bolin, a jeweler of the Russian Imperial court.

The egg is marked on the suspension ring with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K) and workmaster’s initials ‘ИТ’.
