An Art Deco Diamond and Sapphire Engagement Ring

French, circa 1925

A vintage 18K white gold milgrain ring of an oval shape centered with a prong-set sparkling old European cut diamond

(6.35 – 6.4 x 3 mm, approximately 0.80 ct)

outlined by a row of tapered calibre cut deep blue sapphires

and further set with a border of old single cut diamonds

Estimated total diamond weight 1 carat

Height 19 mm (3/4 in.)

Ring size 5 (16 mm)

The sapphires have been carefully calibre-cut to fit exactly into this particular mount with no metal setting visible between them. This is a very costly and time consuming process that would be immensely expensive to imitate today.
