An Antique Russian Demantoid and Diamond Cluster Ring
made in St. Petersburg between 1899 and 1904
56 zolotniks (14K-583) gold, 1 round demantoid garnet 4,45 mm (approximately 0.42 ct), and 12 rose-cut diamonds
US ring size 6 1/2 (inner diameter 17 mm)
The demantoid has some beautiful “horse tail” inclusions right in the center, which are confirming the Ural Mountains origin of the gem.
The color is intense emerald green.
The ring is marked with 56 zolotniks gold standard (14K-583) and initials ‘ ЯЛ ‘ for St. Petersburg assayer Yakov Liapunov (1899-1904).
The ring is lacking maker’s initials which were next to the assay mark due to resizing.
