A Superb Art Nouveau Antique Locket
made in St. Petersburg between 1904 and 1908
The front of the locket is covered with a very fine pale golden green guilloche enamel and applied with a pair of stylized diamond-set cherries within an ornate Art Nouveau gold frame. The lower tip of the shield-shaped locket is embellished with an emerald (approximately 1 carat) of a nice color.
The “cherries” are set with two old European cut champagne diamonds (approximately 0.64 ct and 0.76 ct), four rose cut and two old single cut diamonds.
The locket is marked with 56 zolotnik standard (14K), initials of St. Petersburg assayer Alexander Romanov, and maker’s initials.
