Made in Saint Petersburg in the late 1880s – 1890s.
This is a very elaborate early Faberge egg pendant. The egg is embellished in Art Nouveau taste with five stylized flowers. Each flower is set with three rose cut diamonds. The bottom is accented with a small diamond-set flower head. The body is covered with high quality lime green guilloche enamel.
Height without suspension ring is 22 mm (7/8 in.)
Width is 14 mm (9/16 in.)
This egg is approximately 1/3 bigger than the majority of egg pendants of this type, which are mostly 16-18 mm high.
Marked with maker’s initials ‘КФ’ for Carl Faberge, 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K) and St. Petersburg coat-of-arms.
