A Faberge rose gold and moss agate antique Russian brooch by head workmaster Henrik Wigstrom.
Diameter 1 1/2 in. (3,7 cm)
The moss agate plaque has tree-form inclusions resembling a forest.
The gold, ribbon tied, reeded frame (typical for Wigstrom work) is in Neo-classical taste of Louis XVI period. The silver ribbons are set with tiny rose-cut diamonds.
Objects in Louis XVI style were a specialty of Wigstrom’s workshop.
Struck on back with 56 zolotniks standard / assay office ‘alpha’ for St. Petersburg/ head turned right for 1908-1917, workmaster’s initials ‘H.W.’ for Henrik Wigstrom (worn marks).
