This antique Russian 14K gold ring, circa 1900, was later set with a superb and very rare Russian alexandrite from the Ural Mountains and a transitional brilliant cut diamond (c. 1930s).
The ring is accompanied by the American Gemological Laboratories prestige gemstone report No. 1102044. The report states that the 1.34 ct Alexandrite has a prominent color change of 90 to 100%, and the quality of color change from blue-green to pinkish purple is Excellent.
Under certain light, the stone can also have a dark ruby red color.
The alexandrite measures 7.28 x 6.37 x 4.40 mm.
The diamond weight is 0.25 Ct.
Marked on the shank with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard with initials ‘AB’ for Kiev assay master Alexander Vyrzhikovsky (1899-1904).
