Made in Moscow in the 1930s.
This Art Deco era high dome openwork ring is finely crafted in platinum and gold. The ring is designed as a stylized oval flowerhead centered with a natural Ceylon sapphire of a vivid blue color. The sapphire has an excellent depth of color and strong color saturation due to the substantial thickness of the stone (9.28 mm). The bezel is embellished with numerous old mine cut diamonds.
The sapphire measures approximately 11.7 x 7.9 x 9.28 mm. Estimated weight is 8 carats.
Approximate combined diamond weight is 1.30 ct.
The ring is marked with 950 platinum assay mark, Moscow city mark, and maker’s mark.
The bezel measures 25 x 17 mm (1 x 5/8 in.) and is 11 mm (7/16 in.) high.
The ring is accompanied by the American Gemological Laboratories Prestige gemstone report No. 1119980 for the sapphire.
