A VERY FINE antique Russian gilded silver and blue enamel physician badge, made in Moscow around 1897.
Height 2 1/2 in. (6,3 cm). Condition: light overall wear, some small chips to enamel, two broken leaves.

Russian Imperial double headed eagle is flanked by laurel and oak branches. Two snakes crawling to the cup of Hippocrates out of the branches (a symbol of medicine).
Struck with Russian Imperial 84 zolotniks silver standard (875 silver), Moscow city stamp, and master’s initials ‘AM’.
