circa 1820s
This rare and finely crafted pendant is designed in the form of a stylized cross and reflects the exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail characteristic of early 19th century jewelry. Fashioned in gold, the pendant is richly adorned with gemstones and pearls.
Each arm of the cross is formed from intricately modeled oak leaf wreaths, each embellished with a half pearl. The pendant is centered with an emerald, encircled by a halo of eight rubies and four amethysts.
The pendant is exceptionally well preserved for a 200-year-old jewel, retaining its original detail and integrity – an outstanding example of period design and workmanship.
The suspension ring is a modern replacement.
