Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine), circa 600 – 800 AD

This very fine and rare Byzantine pendant, executed in high karat gold (approximately 21.16 kt), is modeled as a quatrefoil cross. The front is embellished with an interlaced central motif and four palm branches decorating the arms of the cross.

The pendant is preserved in excellent original condition.

Weight is 3.30 grams

Metal analysis: 88.20% gold, 8.77% silver, 2.50% copper, 0.53% iron.
