This late Georgian – early Victorian era heavy 18K gold ring features a very fine champleve enamel work in medieval / renaissance taste. The ring is bezel set with a cushion shape flat cut amethyst (13.3 x 10.7 x 5.8 mm) of a medium purple color. The bezel and shank of the ring are embellished with scrolling foliage on black and white enamel grounds.
Condition: minor wear to enamel mostly on the back of the shank.
The ring is marked with later Austrian grape cluster assay mark for imported gold items of the 3rd gold standard, ‘W’ for Vienna, and 750 gold mark. The grape cluster mark indicates that the ring was imported and sold in Austria between 1925 and 1965.
