Gold-ground porcelain plate from the Kremlin Service. Imperial Porcelain Factory, period of Nicholas I (1825-1855). The service was ordered by Nicholas I to the designs of Professor Solntsev, who used mid 17th century gold and enamel palace dishes as models. Diameter 8 5/8 in. (22 cm).
Legend around eagle reads “NICHOLAS EMPEROR AND AUTOCRAT OF ALL THE RUSSIAS”.
Blue under glaze factory mark (cipher of Nicholas I).
A repaired foot rim chip and a minor glaze flaw on reverse.
