An Antique Miniature Egg Pendant
attributed to Faberge
made in St. Petersburg between 1908 and 1917
The gold and silver egg is covered with a deep royal purple guilloche enamel
and decorated with an engraved gilded silver leaf band flanked by white opaque enamel borders.
Height without suspension ring 18 mm (11/16 in.)
The egg is marked with 56 zolotnik gold standard (14K) and workmaster’s initial ‘A’.
On most miniature eggs, the workmaster’s initials were struck along the suspension ring.
On this ring, the workmaster’s initials were struck perpendicular to the ring.
Consequently, the second initial is missing, and it is impossible to concretely identify the maker.
But almost certainly, it is the work of one of these workmasters:
Andre Adler (most likely), Albert Holmstrom, August Hollming, Alfred Thielemann, Anna Ringe.
Below are Faberge eggs of similar design, both by Andre Adler.
