This pair of antique Russian ribbed gold cufflinks embellished with old mine cut diamonds was made in Kiev between 1908 and 1917.
The cufflinks are marked with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K), Kiev assay office mark, maker’s initials ‘IM’ for Joseph Marshak and original Marshak’s inventory number ‘ 3100 ‘.
Joseph Marshak (1854-1918), one of Faberge’s competitors, was a prominent jeweler in Imperial Russia. The firm is known today as Marchak (Paris).
