made in St. Petersburg between 1899 and 1901.
A pair of rare pre-1917 Carl Faberge egg-shaped carved nephrite jade, gold and rose cut diamond cufflinks. The cufflinks are marked with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K) with initials ‘ЯЛ’ of St. Petersburg assay master Yakov Liapunov, workmaster’s initials ‘EK’ for Erik Kollin, original Faberge’s scratched inventory number 68685, and later French shell-shaped import mark.
Width of the nephrite eggs 12 mm (1/2 in.)
Faberge produced various egg-shaped objects but egg-themed cufflinks are highly unusual and extremely rare.
