This original Faberge miniature egg pendant was made in Saint Petersburg, Russia, between 1899 and 1901.
The egg is covered with a superb quality strawberry red guilloche enamel which Faberge is best known for. Faberge was awarded the Grand Prix for his enamel work at Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900.
The egg is marked with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K) and initials ‘EK’ for Faberge’s workmaster Erik Kollin (1836-1901).
Height without suspension ring is 15 mm (9/16 in.)
