Made in Kazan between 1899 and 1908
A large and finely handcrafted 14K gold brooch is designed as a flying bird carrying a bezel-set 0.55 ct antique cut diamond. The chased body of the bird is embellished with 25 sparkling Russian demantoids. The eyes are set with tiny rubies.
Estimated total demantoid weight 2.36 ct.
The brooch is marked on the tail and on pin with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard with initials ‘ И А ‘ for Kazan head assay master Ivan Ado and maker’s name in Cyrillic “N. Berkh”.
