The brooch is superbly modeled as a silver and gold bird embellished with old rose cut diamonds standing on a gold branch with four guilloche enamel leaves and a pearl. The branch is textured to imitate natural wood.
Brooches with gem-set birds on gold branches with enameled leaves and pearl accents were fashionable during the reign of the French king Louis-Philippe.
Marked on pin guard with eagle’s head French assay mark for 750 gold standard (18K) and maker’s mark.
