Saint Petersburg, circa 1910
This antique egg shaped pendant is covered with superb translucent guilloché enamel in a glowing golden-yellow color. This particular hue is among the rarest enamel colors used by Faberge.
The enamel displays a rich luminosity and depth, comparable in tone to the celebrated Coronation Egg by Faberge, presented by Tsar Nicholas II to Empress Alexandra Feodorovna in 1897. The Coronation Egg, formerly in the Forbes Collection, is now part of the Faberge Museum collection in Saint Petersburg.
The egg is marked on gold suspension ring with workmaster’s initials ‘ A A ‘ for Andre Adler.
Height without the suspension ring is 14 mm (9/16 in.)
