An Antique Faberge Lily of The Valley Guilloche Enamel Locket
Made in St Petersburg between 1899 and 1903, by workmaster August Holmstrom. The gold and silver locket is covered with a pale blue guilloche enamel with grayish pearl shades
Height 1 1/4 in. (3,2 cm)
The front is applied with a gold Art Nouveau lily of the valley set with grayish half pearls and rose-cut diamonds.
The interior is fitted with a glazed miniature gold picture frame.
Original Faberge’s scratched inventory number 14968.
Struck on the loop with master’s initials ‘AH’ for August Holmstrom, 56 zolotniks standard (14K – 583 gold) with assayer’s initials of Yakov Liapunov (St. Petersburg 1899-1903).
A few tiny spots visible only with a close inspection are oxidized air bubbles naturally occurred underneath the enamel. Such natural air bubbles are present in any translucent enamel but usually more visible in lighter colored enamels.
