A Unique Vintage Pectoral Cross
in the Russian Moderne style of the 1910s (also known as Pan-Slavic style)
The design of this vintage cross is influenced by medieval Russo-Byzantine art.
This large and highly unusually shaped silver cross is centered with a finely painted enamel miniature of a guardian angel.
The triangular All-Seeing Eye on the upper arm of the cross is inscribed with Cyrillic abbreviation for GOD.
The Russian inscription on the lower arm of the cross reads – GOD WITH US.
The cross is further decorated with cloisonne designs on a dark olive green ground.
Although unmarked, it is almost certainly, a work of Moscow enameler Feodor Ruckert who supplied cloisonne enamel objects for the jewelry firm of Peter Carl Faberge.
Height without suspension ring – 1 3/4 in. (4,4 cm)
Width – 1 3/16 in. (3 cm)
This is a UNIQUE, one of a kind pectoral cross pendant. No other cloisonne enamel crosses of this style with painted miniatures, are known to exist.
The back of the cross has a partially erased engraving.
The remaining inscription reads – Nikolskaya St 10 Moscow.
