This antique one-of-a-kind 14K gold ring is designed in the Russian Modern style of the early 1900s. The ring is bezel set with a fine oval sapphire of a royal blue color. The sapphire is flanked by a pair of stylized owls, a popular subject in Art Nouveau era art. The owl symbolizes mystery or secrecy.
The black and white image is an architectural relief of an owl on a building in St. Petersburg, circa 1904, around the same time this ring was made.
The sapphire measures 9.5 x 6.8 x 4.1 mm and is approximately 2.50 carats.
