decorated with the coat of arms of Alexandria: a gold sword on a blue glass shield placed through a painted enamel wreath of white roses
with the motto For Faith, Czar and Fatherland in gold.

Nicholas I built the Cottage palace in 1827-1829 in medieval taste.
The palace was meant to be a summer residence for his wife, empress Alexandra Feodorovna (1798-1860).
The coat of arms of the palace, which was designed by famous Russian poet Zhukovsky, reflects a passion of the emperor for Gothic style.

Condition: the upper rim has been re-polished, intact original gilding and enamel painting.
