This exquisite Art Deco platinum engagement ring features a 2.72 ct old European cut diamond (H color, VS1 clarity) surrounded by an openwork wreath embellished with small diamonds and flanked by two rows of calibre cut royal blue sapphires.
Each sapphire was precisely cut and set to perfectly outline the ring’s platinum wreath symbolizing eternity. This complex work had to be done simultaneously by two people, the gem cutter and the setter. Such gem cutting technique is incredibly strenuous and was done in old times when the cost of labor was low. To reproduce the setting of this ring today would be extremely expensive if even possible. Gem cutters of this caliber are a rarity in our time.
The weight of the principal diamond is engraved inside the shank.
The diamond and sapphire top measures 21 x 18 mm (13/16 x 2/3 in.)
Weight 10.54 grams.
Ring size 7.5 (18 mm) sizable
