Early Roman Empire, 1st – 2nd century AD.
This ancient hollow 22.43 Kt gold ring features an exceptional quality sard (a brownish-red variety of chalcedony) intaglio engraved with the profile bust of an emperor or a military commander wearing a laurel wreath and what appears to be a leopard parade helmet.
Diameter of the intaglio is 10-10.5 mm.
Weight is 3.2 grams
Metal analysis: 93.49% gold, 4.77% silver, 1.74% copper.
Approximate ring size 5 – 5.5 (15 x 17 mm)
Condition: the intaglio is in pristine condition, the gold ring has some dents and metal wrinkling on the shoulders.
