FABERGE gold Samorodok (gold nugget) cigarette case, St Petersburg 1908-1917

made to resemble nugget’s surfaces, the gold thumbpiece set with cabochon sapphire, the hinged cover applied with a gold signature-applique. The case is marked on bottom and cover with 56 gold standard (14K), and master’s initials AH for Faberge’s workmaster Albert Holmstrom 1876-1925 (son of August Holmstrom, head of the workshop since 1903, used his father’s punches). Weight 143 g (5,04 oz.). 6,6 x 9,8 cm (2 5/8 x 3 7/8 in.). The case is in excellent condition.
