A finely handcrafted late 19th century antique Russian gold and garnet egg pendant.
Although unmarked, it is likely a work of Erik Kollin, a Faberge’s workmaster who specialized in revival objects.
The design of the egg is clearly influenced by ancient Greek jewelry.
It was typical for Faberge to use carved semi precious gemstones as lower halves of his miniature egg pendants.
This egg is set with a finely polished dark red cabochon granet.
The matte gold “cap” is decorated with chased petals in classical taste.
Height – 19 mm (3/4 in.)
Excellent condition.
