A Vintage Gold and Diamond Lion Ring
with a Russian Jewish provenance
made in St. Petersburg between 1908 and 1917
The gold ring is finely modeled as the head of a lion with an old mine diamond in its mouth.
The diamond is bright white and very clean.
E-F color, VVS clarity.
Estimated weight 0.40 ct.
The eyes of the lion are set with rose-cut diamonds.

Marked with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K) / St. Petersburg assay office and maker’s initials
The ring has an interesting graffiti from the period of the Russian revolution and the Civil war.
The shank is scratched inside with a six pointed Star of David with initials in center ‘ Л С Я ‘,date 1918 and name, presumably, of the owner in full – Leib Yakobson.
