A rare piece of Czar Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia, coronation memorabilia.
An 1896 souvenir glass made for the Tsar’s coronation in Moscow.
Unlike the “cups of sorrow,” which were metal enameled beakers made in huge quantities for the coronation, this glass is a true rarity.
Due to the fragility of the material, very few coronation glasses have survived to this day.
The glass is decorated with white transfer printed ciphers of Tsar Nicholas II and Tsaritsa Alexandra beneath Russian Imperial crown, and
an inscription in stylized Old Slavonic script – IN THE MEMORY OF THE HOLLY CORONATION 1896, flanked by oak and laurel branches.
Height – 5 in. (12,8 cm)
