A Very Rare and Historically Important Tsar Nicholas II Coronation Badge 1896
The gilded silver badge in the form of the Russian Imperial crown with the inscription in Russian:
“HOLY CORONATION 1896”
served as an entry permit to the Uspensky Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin on the day of the Coronation – May 14, 1896
and allowed the bearer of the badge to be present at the ceremony in the cathedral.
Exact number of the badges produced is not known but very few have survived to our days.
The badge was worn near the left shoulder with a blue silk ribbon in the color of the Order of St. Andrew.
