made in Moscow between 1899 and 1908
attributed to Carl Faberge
The rock crystal body of the egg is superbly carved with a spiral design.
The egg is marked on the gold suspension ring with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K) and initials ‘ИЛ’ for Moscow asssay master Ivan Lebedkin.
Although there is no maker’s mark, the egg is likely by Faberge who used rock crystal extensively in his pieces. The quality of carving and fine design are also clear indications of Faberge work.
Length without the suspension gold ring 19 mm (3/4 in.)
