French, 1880s

This convertible pendant/brooch was made in France and imported and sold in Russia. The bail is a later replacement.

The pin is marked with French eagle’s head assay mark for 18K gold and Imperial Russian import mark for 72 zolotnik gold standard.

The piece is finely crafted in silver topped gold. It is designed in Neo-Rococo style as an elaborate openwork scroll embellished with numerous white and one fancy color diamonds. The center is set with an oval pink tourmaline framed by rose cut diamonds.

Estimated total diamond weight is 1.80 ct.

The tourmaline measures 14.5 x 10.8 mm and is approximately 5.70 ct.

Overall size with bail 52 x 33 mm (2 x 1 1/4 in.)
